  • LKS2 Mindfulness Workshop

    Tue 24 Jan 2023

Our LKS2 children and teachers enjoyed a fantastic workshop today, learning all about Mindfulness.  Linked to our learning in PSHE and RE, it helped us notice our emotions and think of the present.  In a digital world, learning to be calm and reflective has huge benefits for us all.

  • Chinese New Year

    Fri 20 Jan 2023

This morning's Celebration Assembly was taken by Mrs Hooper who spoke to us about the Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21st January and 20 February each lunar year, and for 2023 this begins this Sunday, 22nd January.  The celebrations, which are also known as the Spring Festival, will culminate with the Lantern Festival on the 5th February.

Mrs Hooper told us about 2023 being the Year of the Rabbit and that children born in 2011 belonged to the Year of the Rabbit.

Each animal in Chinese culture has special and unique characteristics which are reflected in the people born into these years.  The rabbit represents the moon, some say because the shadows of the moon resemble a rabbit, others say it is because of the rabbit's pure characteristics. Rabbits are earnest with everything they do; they just ask that others treat them the same way.

The picture below shows all 12 of the animals along with birth years so you can see which one represents you.

  • Fencing Assembly

    Wed 11 Jan 2023

This morning our Key Stage 2 children had the exciting opportunity of having our fencing club provider come and hold an assembly to talk about what a fantastic sport fencing is and how beneficial it can be physically, socially and mentally. Two of our existing club members, Lily and Luka, brilliantly demonstrated their skills and impressed the pupils and staff with their ability and love of the sport.

Lily and Luka have written the following to tell us more about it:

"The assembly was about fencing, to show that fencing is so much more than just sword fighting and to show that it's an art.  Fencing is fun, exciting and all about having fun.  It's also about respect because if you don't respect your opponent then it's not going to be a fun game for both of you.  So why don't you give fencing a try before you say you don't like it.  Fencing isn't just about winning, it's about having fun.  Fencing is a fun sport so give it a try!"

    Lily, Sycamore

"The assembly was to show that fencing is fun not boring, to make people interested in this amazing sport.  My 3 words to describe fencing are fun, amazing and brilliant!!!"

    Luka, Sycamore

  • January Jog

    Fri 06 Jan 2023

We were so delighted that the weather was kind to us today so that our January Jog could go ahead as planned.

It was fantastic to see the children running, skipping, walking and jogging around the track along with teachers, TAs, parents and siblings.  The atmosphere was made even more special by the cheering, supportive spectators and motivating music.

We are delighted to report that we have smashed our £1000 target, with a total of £1161 raised for Shelter.

Thank you again to everyone who supported us.
